There is another story that there was a dude surfing one time in the year 1762 off the coast of California and he saw a weird crab that he thought was a snail so he took a picture of it on his digital camera and the colors got all messed up.
Another theory is that Spongebob Squarepants is real and that the babashnelp was the original Gary but quit the show because Patrick didn't like him.
We will probably never know where the Babashnelp came from, but the different ways of people's thinking will entertain us forever.
I have done a lot of thorough researching on the topic but there is no information indicating that anyone actually discovered them. For all we know they could have just popped up out of thin air.
OK, enough joking... Here's the real story. Not as far fetched or fun as the one with the hippies or Spongebob, but its the real, honest truth (parts of it)!
The babashnelp was created late in the year 2006 when Grace Gubreez heard a song called Ocean Man and mistaked the lyrics "by the sand" for Babashnelp. We thought that the second syllable of this strange word sounded a bit like the word "snail" so that is how the Babashnelp came into existence.
There were many arguments about what a babashnelp should look like until one day when we met a ninja. He was a wise dude who solved our problem with a simple pen and peice of paper. He drew the most beautiful swirly snail shell and gave the babashnelp stylish sunglasses so that he would not burn his retinas from all of the UV ray exposure that he gets while surfing at the beach.
Grace and Wisdom Gubreez decided that the Babashnelp needed a trademark so that everyone would know who he was and where he comes from. So we plopped him right down on a surfboard and let him ride the waves. He has been doing that ever since.
The birth of the babashnelp was a beautiful time in the lives of the Gubreez. We hope you will enjoy the babashnelp as much as we do.
